~~ About the Frigitek ECMs ~~
An ECM is an "Electronically Commutated Motor" - a new type of motor which is dramatically more efficient than the older shaded-pole motors typically used in refrigeration systems.
Frigitek EC motors are used to replace the shaded-pole motors in older evaporators. This motor replacement results in a large reduction in the amount of power used by the evaporator fans. In addition, a new ECMotor Controller available for use with the Frigitek EC motors provides the ability to slow the speed of the new EC motors, resulting in even more savings, along with the other benefits of having the fans at low speed for substantial periods of time.
Frigitek EC motors and ECMotor Controllers are available in separate models for use on either 120VAC or 240VAC.
An analysis of the savings possible with EC motors, and a comparison of EC motor savings with Classic Single-Phase Frigitek savings is available as a downloadable PDF file
A brochure describing the EC motors and the Frigitek ECMotor Controller is available as a downloadable PDF file here.
